This news update explains agria crufts dog health award and what it means for UK pet owners trying to understand pet insurance, vet costs or animal welfare issues.
Agria Pet Insurance presented a cheque for £80,723 to the Kennel Club Charitable Trust at this years Crufts, continuing what has become a meaningful ongoing relationship between the insurer and one of the UKs biggest dog welfare organisations.
The cheque was handed over by Agrias chief executive Vicki Wentworth to Jennifer Millard, who chairs the Kennel Club Charitable Trust, at a small ceremony at the show. The trust uses donations to fund work around dog health, welfare and responsible ownership across the UK.
Agria also used Crufts to present its Sustainable Exhibitor Awards for the second year running, recognising businesses and individuals in the dog world who are doing something genuinely positive for sustainability. One of this years winners was Puzzle-It For Dogs, a family business in Essex that makes wooden puzzle toys for dogs, designed to keep them mentally stimulated. Every toy gets tested by the family's own dogs before it goes out to customers, which feels like the right way to do it.
The insurer has been the official insurance partner of Crufts for several years and describes itself as the only pet insurer endorsed by the show. It also claims to be the UKs first carbon positive pet insurer, something it has held since 2022.
Agria has been providing pet insurance since 1890, originally in Sweden, coming to the UK in 2009. It only offers lifetime cover policies, which means conditions that develop while a dog is insured can continue to be covered year after year as long as the policy is renewed. The Kennel Club relationship extends to a branded policy for Kennel Club registered dogs alongside Agrias own range.
The donation to the Kennel Club Charitable Trust brings the total Agria has contributed to animal welfare organisations in the UK to over £1.2 million.
